But with declines of more than 56-74 % in the eastern monarch populations and up to 99% of the western population lost, monarch butterflies are in serious trouble. It is estimated that, without protections and recovery actions, there is a high probability that monarchs will be extinct within 60 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, you have the opportunity to call for the protection of monarchs. The public comment period for monarchs to be listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act is currently open, and will remain open for comment through March 12th 2025. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed listing will enhance efforts to restore and protect this iconic pollinator.<br><br>Please send your comment in support of listing the monarch as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
